Start with a scene, add your photo and choose what to replace. This guide follows that process from the first upload to the downloaded video in Jean Phil Video. If you already know the controls and just want to choose a pink-suit clip, go to the template guide.
You will need a clear photo of one adult, permission to transform their likeness and enough credits for the estimate shown in the editor.
1. Choose your starting scene
Open Night selfie · 5s test. The link selects Put me in a scene and this short reference. Sign in first; if you reach sign-in, return here afterward and reopen the link.
Watch the clip before choosing your photo. The source provides the action, setting and camera movement.
Reference material, not a verified output of our tool. Viewing a scene does not grant permission to reuse it.
For a different action, select another scene in the editor. Check its framing and compatibility message before continuing.
2. Upload a suitable photo
Use Upload photo in the Character controls. Pick one face with visible eyes and even lighting. A front view or slight three-quarter angle gives you a useful comparison when reviewing the result.
Avoid group shots, tiny faces, sunglasses, heavy face filters and hands covering the mouth. For a whole-character replacement, also show the hair and clothes you want to carry into the scene.
Check the uploaded preview before moving on. If you selected the wrong picture, replace it now.
3. Choose what to replace
Under What would you like to replace?, choose:
- Replace face only to put your facial identity into the scene's existing look.
- Replace character to use the broader appearance in your photo, including hair and clothing.
For your face in the pink suit, start with Replace face only. The filter guide explains how to choose between the two when you want a different combination of face and styling.
4. Review the settings and cost
Scene mode uses the reference's duration and framing. To choose a new duration or aspect ratio for an original scene, use Make my idea.
Select Quality, read the credit estimate and resolve any missing-input or compatibility messages. Confirm the permission checkbox when you have permission to use the inputs and people shown.
Opening a scene or prompt link only prepares the editor. Select Generate video when the inputs and displayed estimate are ready.
5. Watch the result all the way through
Wait for the generation to finish, then review the returned video rather than the source preview. Watch once at normal speed and pause around head turns or a hand passing near the face.
Check four things:
- Identity: compare the face with your uploaded photo at the beginning, middle and end.
- Styling: check the hairline, mustache, jacket and tie for distracting changes.
- Movement: look for unstable eyes, mouth, hands or body proportions.
- Scene: check the background and listen to any audio in the result.
Replacement controls guide the edit; they do not lock the face, costume or background. Keep only a result that works throughout the clip.
6. Download and prepare to share
Select Download video on the completed result and watch the downloaded file once more. Before publishing, check your permission for the likeness, footage and any music, and label synthetic or altered media appropriately. Present it as your recreation rather than an endorsed appearance by the original creator.
When something needs changing
Wrong clothing: check the replacement scope. Use face-only replacement when the scene's costume is the look you want.
A hard-to-recognize face: try a clearer, less obstructed photo. Keep the scene and scope unchanged so you can judge that adjustment.
An unavailable scene: read the editor's compatibility message and choose a supported reference. Changing a duration field in another mode will not trim the source.
A failed generation: read the error and check the job status before submitting again.
The wrong action: choose another scene, use your own footage or write an original idea. Those routes change the performance, not just the person.
Use your own video for a specific performance
Open the generator and select Use my video. Add footage you have permission to edit, then add a character image. The image control inserts a marker such as @Image1.
Identify the target in your instructions: “Replace the person in the center with @Image1.” Use the actual marker inserted by the editor, especially if you add several images. Review the quality and credit estimate before generating.
Start from an idea for a new scene
Choose Make my idea when you want to direct a new action. You can set a whole-number duration from 5 to 30 seconds and choose 9:16, 16:9 or 1:1.
Here is an original brief for Marcel Venn, a doorway usher who treats an ordinary entrance as a grand occasion:
Marcel Venn is an original adult doorway usher with a distinct face, short swept-back dark hair, a burgundy jacket, a cream shirt and a serious expression. In one continuous medium shot outside a supermarket, he pauses, straightens one cuff, and formally presents the automatic door as it opens. Keep the camera still, with natural daylight and no added text.Use this starting point in the generator mode described in the guide. Review your inputs and settings before generating.
Open this original doorway brief to try it. For a specific identity, add a portrait and refer to its inserted image marker. The original character guide develops the same character into three scenes.
